School + TODS opening sanny @ 12:30 PM

Yesterday I was dragged by Niki to attend her parent-teacher session at her school. I felt like a guppy in a school of tuna. We came in late for the principal's talk (which, he claimed, will last only 15 mins but just imagine, he'd already blabbered for 1 hour when we came). Couldn't understand the song he sang, not that I didn't pay attention, I tried to, but his words ring like a bedtime lullaby, you really have to hear it to believe it!

Next, we went to Niki's class to collect her report book. It was weird 'cos the students weren't allowed to sit in their seats and ended up looking like escort guards or something. My gosh, the table! (looking at the table where I sat) "Jingwang rawkz my Life" "A poem of Love" blah, blah, all the vandalism! And the person who sits here must be an Indon because there are all sorts of scribblings in Bahasa Indonesia.

I felt a tad embarassed when it's my turn to go up, I could hear whispers "Ooh...she's Niki's sis! Niki's sis!"...and...judging from her mid-term results, Niki's got a lot of socks to pull. She promised that she won't watch no TV except on Saturdays and would devote all her time practising A Maths and Physics...I tried talking to her in English but it takes two hands to clap, you know...She lamented that it's awkward conversing in English when the two people involved are Indonesians. Probably hung out too often with her friends, who speaks Bahasa Indonesia all the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my language but hey, look at where you're living, studying! You've to assimilate yourself into the culture.

Anyway, we went to Takashimaya next to have our dinner, on the escalator we saw Dick Lee (who dressed like a metrosexual and looked slimmer in person), then another star after another. We saw lots of reporters taking pictures of Ho Yeow Sun in a frenzy; I was like, huh. I actually realised that lots of those celebs we see on TV are actually so tall! (Or maybe they're just wearing high heels). It was the gala opening of TOD'S at Takashimaya, by the way. Lots of tall ang mohs, tall models, funnily-dressed Kabuki wannabes. We squeezed past the media to get down to business: eating dinner. Niki bought sushi first and complained that Crystal Jade's dishes are bland and expensive. I went on about eating my rice and reading my newspaper anyway (New Paper, Liverpool won Champions League in dramatic fashion! Dr Poon must be laughing so hard...must remember to give him a present next time Niki and I visit him...he's the only Singaporean guy I truly admire and respect, right Mar? Eh...think his baby born already?)

Went home to catch the repeat telecast (so touched), play FF and plonk to sleep. Should get some TOD'S shoes for those long shopping walks during GSS. Anyone?
